About the NOC --

Transforming Richmond's Northside spiritually, relationally, and economically through the hope, power, and love of Jesus Christ.

Mission -- Loving God, loving people, making disciples, nothing else matters

Company Overview -- The NOC was founded in 2004 by Carl "Butch" Johnson, a retired firefighter who had grown up in Highland Park when it was a very different community. With a heart broken over the impoverished state of his former neighborhood, and a faith that believes that all things are possible with God, Butch resolved to make a difference. Since then, God has been using Butch and the NOC volunteers to build relationships and form partnerships with other Kingdom minded organizations that are helping to fix the brokenness in Highland Park.

Description -- The NOC is an on-the-ground nonprofit ministry located in the Highland Park community of Richmond's Northside. Realizing that change of the magnitude needed in our neighborhood doesn't happen overnight, we are in for the long haul, committed to experience life together in spite all of the mess and to love one another regardless of our imperfections. We are building community by loving and serving our neighbors.

General information -- The NOC operates a Thrift Store to help fund its ministries which is open M-F from 10AM to 2PM. We also have an elementary after school tutoring program through our partnership with the Youth Life Foundation of Richmond. A Christ-centered addiction recovery program called Overcomers Outreach meets every Tuesday night at 7PM. JSS, a mentor program for teen girls meets off site every other Friday evening. Throughout the year we have numerous outreach events in the community. If you would like info on how to become involved in what the NOC is doing please give us a shout.
